Inon Barnatan, the New York Philharmonic’s first ever Artist in Residence, leads the Academy in piano concertos by Mozart and Shostakovich and is joined by Academy Principal Trumpet Mark David for the world and US premieres of a new commission for piano, trumpet and strings by Scottish composer Alasdair Nicolson. Academy Director / Leader Tomo Keller directs the orchestra in additional symphonies by Mozart and Haydn, Copland’s Quiet City (also featuring Mark David) and Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony Op. 110a. The tour begins with a single performance in the UK (Wiltshire) before a total of 12 performances throughout the states of Florida, Missouri, Alabama, Georgia, Arizona and California.
